Capacity and Speed Limits

The adapter passes only the USB 3.0 Gen1 signals present on the 19-pin header, so throughput stays at 5 Gbps and does not reach 10 Gbps. It cannot work with a USB 2.0 motherboard IDC connector, so systems lacking a 19-pin header cannot use it.

Mounting and Compatibility Notes

The plastic-and-metal body measures 2.5 cm by 2.4 cm by 1 cm and mounts on a PCI bracket for secure installation. Driver-free operation is supported on Windows XP through Windows 10, macOS and Linux, but power must be disconnected for 20 seconds before fitting to prevent pin shorting.
