Glass time-delay fuse for low-voltage circuits

The Bussmann MDL-9-R is a cylindrical glass fuse rated at 9 A and 32 V AC with a 1 kA interrupt rating. It suits automotive, marine or generator wiring where a time-delay element prevents nuisance blows from inrush current. The non-rejection body fits standard 1-1/4 inch by 1/4 inch fuse holders. Supplied in a five-piece pack for spares or multiple circuits.

Practical limits of the 32 V AC rating

The 32 V AC rating restricts use to low-voltage DC or AC systems such as battery banks, generator control panels or accessory circuits. It cannot protect mains-voltage equipment or higher-voltage DC lines. The 1 kA interrupt capacity covers typical short-circuit currents in these applications. Time-delay operation tolerates brief overloads but will not sustain continuous current above 9 A.

The 9 A rating decides fit

Select this fuse only when the circuit’s normal operating current is at or below 9 A and the voltage does not exceed 32 V AC. A higher-rated fuse would fail to protect the wiring; a lower-rated fuse would blow in normal service. Verify the holder accepts the 1-1/4 inch by 1/4 inch glass body before installation.
