Captures HDMI sources at up to 1080p60 via USB 3.1, includes a built-in scaler and 3.5 mm stereo audio input for embedding external sound, and draws power from the USB port
The BZBGEAR BG-CHA captures HDMI video up to 1080p at 60 frames per second and embeds stereo audio from a 3.5 mm input. It connects through a USB 3.1 Gen 1 port that also powers the unit, so no external adapter is needed. The built-in scaler adjusts incoming signals for broad software compatibility. It works with Windows 7, 8, 10, Mac OS X 10.9 or later and Linux.
The aluminium housing passively dissipates heat during extended capture sessions. Because the device draws all its power from the USB 3.1 bus, total power consumption stays within the port's rated limit and adds no extra load to a desktop or notebook supply. No fan is present, so operation is silent in typical office or studio environments.
Maximum capture resolution is 1080p at 60 Hz; the card cannot record 4K or higher frame-rate sources. HDCP-protected content is blocked, so encrypted streams from set-top boxes or protected media players will not be captured. Buyers who need 4K capture or HDCP bypass should look elsewhere.

Connect the HDMI source to the input, plug the USB 3.1 cable into a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port for power and data, then select the device in your capture software; the step often missed is using a USB 2.0 port which limits video to MJPG format.
The aluminum housing has no moving parts or user-serviceable components; keep the HDMI and 3.5 mm ports clean and replace the USB cable only if it becomes damaged.
The capture is bound by the USB 3.1 Gen 1 bandwidth and the host system meeting the stated desktop or notebook requirements; if the system cannot sustain the data rate, dropped frames occur before any internal buffer limit.
