A 5-metre OM1 multimode duplex patch cable with SC to ST connectors, built on Corning fiber for 1000BASE-SX and 10GBASE-SR links
The Cable Leader OM1 SC-to-ST patch cable is a factory-terminated multimode duplex assembly built on Corning 62.5/125 µm fiber with an orange OFNR riser-rated jacket. It arrives pre-polished and ready for immediate use in data-centre, SAN and enterprise backbone links.
Each end carries a UPC-polished ceramic ferrule inside a push-pull SC or ST housing that locks securely into transceivers, switches, routers, media converters and patch panels. The duplex construction keeps transmit and receive fibres paired and correctly oriented for repeatable, low-loss mating.
Confirm that both endpoints accept multimode OM1 62.5/125 µm fibre and present SC and ST receptacles respectively; the cable will not mate with single-mode or LC/MPO interfaces. Ensure the 5-metre reach matches the rack-to-rack or cabinet-to-cabinet distance in your installation.

The ceramic ferrules on the SC and ST connectors should be inspected and cleaned with a lint-free wipe and isopropyl alcohol before each mating; the cable jacket and fiber are passive and do not wear out under normal indoor use.
The 5-metre length is well within the OM1 short-reach distance for 10GBASE-SR, so the practical limit will be the transceiver budget or patch-panel loss budget rather than the cable itself.
No — the cable is entirely passive with no active components, so it produces no heat and no audible noise regardless of how long data passes through it.
