15 ft Toslink cable for digital audio

This 15 ft Toslink digital optical audio cable links devices with an S/PDIF interface to AV receivers. It suits Blu-ray players, satellite DVRs, computers, DAT recorders and game consoles that need a fibre-optic connection. The length gives flexibility for typical living-room or desktop layouts.

Braided jacket and metal connectors

A braided jacket over durable PVC layers guards the fibre against nicks, cuts and kinks during routing. Polished metal connectors with gold-plated tips resist corrosion and maintain a secure fit. The 360 degree grip treads make plugging and unplugging easier in tight spaces.

EMI-free fibre with surround support

The optical fibre eliminates electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference for a clean signal path. It carries uncompressed PCM audio as well as compressed 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound including Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD. Buyers who need coaxial electrical S/PDIF or longer runs beyond 15 ft should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How long will the braided jacket and metal connectors last before needing replacement?

The 15 ft cable uses a braided jacket over durable PVC layers and polished metal connectors with gold-plated tips, designed to resist nicks, cuts, kinks and corrosion for extended service life.

What limits performance during continuous high-resolution surround playback?

The cable supports uncompressed PCM and compressed 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound including Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD, so the source device or receiver capabilities determine the practical limit.

Does the cable generate heat or pick up interference when running all day?

The fiber-optic design eliminates electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference completely, and the optical signal carries no electrical current, so no heat is produced during continuous use.
