Four-computer USB sharing

The Cable Matters 4 Port USB 3.0 Switch lets up to four computers share up to four USB peripherals. A single button press or the included wireless remote swaps the active host instantly. The remote can be disabled for RF-sensitive environments. The package includes a USB-C to USB-A adapter so USB-C and Thunderbolt hosts can connect without extra cables.

Wireless remote and USB-C adapter

The RF remote moves the switching function away from the desk, useful when the switch sits behind equipment or in a rack. The supplied USB-C adapter lets USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 computers use the same four Type-A upstream ports. No software installation is required for basic switching on any supported host.

Bus-powered with optional AC input

The switch draws power from the active host and runs most keyboards, mice, printers and hard drives without an external supply. An AC adapter is included for peripherals that need more current. A built-in on/off switch allows power cycling or power saving without unplugging cables. On Windows, a separate USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter can add display output through the switch.

What is the maximum data rate the switch can sustain when all four computers are sharing a single USB 3.0 hard drive?

The switch supports USB 3.0 speeds up to 5Gbps and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 peripherals.

Does the RF remote or the switching electronics generate noticeable heat or fan noise during all-day operation?

The unit has no fan and is bus-powered, so it runs silently with minimal heat during continuous use.
