SATA to dual PWM fan power splitter

This four-piece cable set connects 3-pin or 4-pin PWM case fans to a 15-pin SATA power connector. Each cord uses tinned copper conductors with braided sleeving for durability. The splitter expands a single motherboard fan header when the CPU or system fan connectors are fully occupied or current-limited. Black colour throughout.

SATA power limits fan speed control

The 12 V SATA rail supplies the fans directly, bypassing the motherboard header current limit. PWM signals still pass through the 4-pin connector so speed regulation remains active. Total draw is constrained by the SATA connector rating and the power supply’s 12 V capacity. No motherboard BIOS setting changes the hard current ceiling of the SATA plug.

Replaces occupied or weak motherboard headers

Builders who have no free 3-pin or 4-pin headers, or whose headers cannot deliver enough current for multiple fans, use this adapter instead of a powered hub. The jump is worth it when the system already has spare SATA power leads and only one or two extra fans are needed. Not suited for high-wattage fan arrays that exceed the SATA connector’s safe current rating.

Questions about this item

How many fans can one cable power from a single SATA connector?

Each splitter provides one SATA plug that feeds two 3-pin or 4-pin PWM fan headers, letting you run a pair of fans from one power connection.

Will the PWM signal pass through to both fan headers for speed control?

The 4-pin headers carry the PWM wire, so the motherboard can regulate both attached fans using a single PWM signal.

What does the 15-pin SATA connector actually deliver to the fans?

It supplies 12 V power from the PSU while the motherboard header still provides the tachometer and PWM control lines.
