USB 3.0 to 2.5G Ethernet Adapter
This USB 3.0 Male A to 2.5G RJ45 Female adapter adds a wired network port to laptops, tablets or a Raspberry Pi 3. It supports 10M, 100M, 1000M and 2500M bandwidth for file transfers, video calls, gaming and HD streaming. The device is USB bus powered and backwards compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1.
Driver installation and cable requirement
The built-in Realtek RTL8156 chip requires drivers downloaded from the Realtek official site before use. You must also verify that your network card and router support 2.5G Ethernet and connect a Cat 6 or higher LAN cable to achieve the rated speed. Auto MDIX handles twisted-pair crossover detection and correction automatically.
Plug-in installation with compatibility checks
The adapter plugs into a standard USB-A port and draws power from the bus, so no external supply is needed. It works with Windows 10, 8.1 and macOS X 10.6 through 10.15 once the driver is installed. Wake-On-LAN, full-duplex flow control and auto-negotiation are supported, but the link will fall back to lower speeds if the router or cabling does not meet 2.5G requirements.

Questions about this item
Will the Realtek RTL8156 chip require driver updates over time?
The adapter uses the Realtek RTL8156 chipset which needs drivers installed before first use. Future OS updates may require updated drivers from Realtek's official site to maintain full 2.5Gbps performance and compatibility.
Does the USB 3.0 interface limit the 2.5Gbps Ethernet speed?
USB 3.0 provides up to 5Gbps bandwidth, so the 2.5Gbps Ethernet rate is supported. The adapter is backwards compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1, but those slower ports will restrict throughput to their lower limits.
How warm does the adapter get during continuous all-day use?
The adapter is USB bus-powered with no external supply needed. It has no fan and runs silently. Under sustained 2.5Gbps loads with a Cat 6 or better cable, it will warm slightly but stays within normal operating temperatures for a compact dongle.
