USB 3.0 to HDMI Adapter for Windows
This CableCreation adapter adds an external HDMI display to a Windows desktop or laptop through a gold-plated USB 3.0 port. It sends both audio and video to a monitor, projector or TV for presentations, video playback or extended desktop space. The device uses a DisplayLink chip and requires a driver install before use. Only 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista and XP are supported.
Sustained operation with DisplayLink chip
Under continuous use the adapter maintains an HDMI output up to 2560 by 1440 resolution at 1.65 Gbps bandwidth and 24-bit colour depth. The DisplayLink architecture handles encoding on the host CPU rather than a dedicated GPU, so performance scales with the computer's processor during long sessions. It is not recommended for gaming workloads and does not support HDCP-protected Blu-ray playback.
Compatibility checks before ordering
Verify the host system runs a supported Windows version and that you can install the required DisplayLink driver from the CableCreation or DisplayLink website. Confirm the target display accepts HDMI input at 1920 by 1080 or 2560 by 1440 resolution. Mac OS X, macOS, Linux, Unix and Android devices will not work with this adapter.

Questions about this item
Does the adapter get hot or draw much power when driving a 1920x1080 monitor all day?
The USB 3.0 input supplies both power and data; with a 1.65 Gbps bandwidth limit the adapter runs cool during extended 1080P use.
What must I already have on my computer for this adapter to function?
A free USB 3.0 port running Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista or XP (32-bit or 64-bit) and an internet connection to download the DisplayLink driver before first use.
Will it work alongside the older HDMI and VGA ports I still use on the same PC?
Yes — the adapter adds a separate HDMI output that Windows treats as an additional display, so mirror or extend modes work together with your existing ports.
