500 ft 18 AWG Plenum Speaker Wire

This 500-foot reel of 18 AWG plenum-rated speaker wire is built for commercial audio installations where fire-safety codes require CMP-rated cable. Installers running lines through plenum spaces in schools, offices or healthcare facilities will meet code without pulling separate conduit.

Installation Notes

The cable terminates in bare copper conductors on both ends, so you strip and connect directly to amplifier or speaker terminals — no factory connectors to remove. A common issue is underestimating the stiffness of plenum jackets; allow extra length for gentle bends and secure the run with approved supports to avoid kinking.

Pre-Order Checklist

Verify that your local building inspector accepts CMP-rated cable for the intended plenum space and confirm the total run length does not exceed the 500-foot reel. Ensure your amplifier and speaker terminals accept bare 18 AWG wire and plan for the white jacket colour if aesthetics matter in exposed areas.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 18 AWG plenum speaker wire is functioning correctly after installation?

Use a multimeter to check continuity on both bare-wire ends and verify low resistance across the 500 ft copper conductor run.

What comes with the 40538 and what must I supply separately?

The box contains a 500 ft spool of white CMP-rated plenum speaker wire with bare-wire ends; you must provide connectors, wall plates and any termination tools.

Which version of the C2G 40538 should I choose for a commercial audio install?

The single listed model 40538 is an 18 AWG, 500 ft plenum-rated reel; select it when your project requires that exact gauge, length and fire rating.
