Classroom ceiling speaker

The Cables To Go 41509 is a plenum-rated in-ceiling speaker designed for K-12 classrooms and drop-ceiling installations. It mounts directly into a standard 2x2 ceiling frame for a clean, unobtrusive appearance. The unit delivers 12 W RMS output with a ceramic driver and covers a frequency range of 65 Hz to 17 kHz. Its 100-degree dispersion angle directs sound down to students for full classroom coverage.

Constant-voltage system integration

The speaker operates on 70 volt or 25 volt distributed audio lines with selectable power taps at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 watts. This allows precise level matching across multiple units without overloading the amplifier during sustained use. Sensitivity is rated at 92 dB, so consistent volume is maintained across long cable runs typical in school installations. The design supports continuous operation for daily multimedia presentations and curriculum audio.

Plenum-rated construction and mounting

The plenum-rated enclosure meets fire-safety requirements for installation in air-handling ceiling spaces. A white finish blends with standard ceiling tiles, while the 20 by 20 inch footprint fits the drop-ceiling grid. At 6.15 lb and 3.4 inches deep, the speaker sits flush without protruding into the room. TAA compliance qualifies it for federal and education procurement, and a three-year limited warranty covers the hardware.

Questions about this item

Does the 12 W RMS in-ceiling speaker produce noticeable heat or noise during all-day classroom use?

The passive design has no fan or amplifier, so it runs silently and generates no measurable heat; only the connected 70 V or 25 V amplifier draws power.

What amplifier and wiring must I already own to drive the 41509 speaker at its 12 W RMS rating?

A 70 V or 25 V constant-voltage amplifier with available .5, 1.0, 2.0 or 4.0 W taps and plenum-rated speaker cable for the drop-ceiling installation.

Can the 41509 speaker share the same 70 V line as older 25 V-only ceiling speakers in my school?

Yes — the 41509 includes a 25 V tap, so it can be wired in parallel on a 70 V line alongside legacy 25 V units without impedance mismatch.
