Variable Polar Pattern Boundary Microphone

The CAD Audio 220VP is a condenser boundary button microphone designed for surface mounting in conference rooms, lecture halls and broadcast studios. Its continuously variable polar pattern lets the installer adjust pickup precisely for each acoustic environment.

XLR Connectivity and RF Immunity

The microphone terminates in a standard 3-pin XLRM connector recessed in the body for direct connection to mixers, audio interfaces or PA systems. An integral 80 Hz high-pass filter at 12 dB per octave reduces low-frequency rumble, while RF immunity shields against interference from mobile phones and two-way radios.

Suited for Installed Speech Applications

This unit suits system designers who need a single boundary microphone that can be tuned on site for omnidirectional, cardioid or figure-eight behaviour. Users requiring a handheld vocal microphone, a USB desktop model or a wireless system should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

How does the boundary effect change pickup when the 220VP is mounted on a hard surface?

Mounting on a hard surface uses the boundary effect to increase the signal-to-noise ratio for clearer capture.

What low-frequency content does the built-in 80 Hz filter remove during all-day use?

The integral 12 dB/octave high-pass filter at 80 Hz cuts unwanted low-frequency energy to improve intelligibility.

Which connector must the buyer already have on their mixer or interface for this microphone?

It terminates in a standard 3-pin XLRM-type connector recessed in the body for direct connection.
