Classroom headphones with mono/stereo switch

The Califone 3068AV-10L is a wired headset built for listening centres, language labs and library workstations. A slide switch on the earcup toggles between mono for speech and ELL activities and stereo for music or computer audio. Dual volume knobs let each student set a comfortable level without disturbing neighbours.

3.5 mm plug with snap-on quarter-inch adapter

The ten-foot coiled cable ends in a 3.5 mm mini-phone connector and ships with a 1/4 inch adapter that snaps on for older media players. Impedance is 36 ohm, so output from laptops, desktops, tablets and telephones is adequate without extra amplification. No wireless or digital protocols are involved; the connection is purely analogue.

Rugged ABS frame with replaceable leatherette

The headband and circumaural earcups are moulded from ABS plastic to survive daily classroom handling. A reinforced strain-relief joint protects the permanently attached cord from accidental pulls. Padded leatherette cushions reduce ambient noise, allowing lower volume settings, and can be swapped out when worn. The whole assembly weighs point six pounds.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 10 ft version or look for a shorter cable for classroom use?

The 10 ft coiled cord gives students room to move around listening centers without pulling the plug, and the reinforced strain relief resists accidental tugs.

What does the 36 ohm impedance mean when plugged into a laptop or tablet?

At 36 ohm the headphones draw modest power, so they reach comfortable volume on laptops, tablets and phones without needing an amplifier.

How does the 3.5 mm mini-phone connector work with the 1/4 inch adapter in practice?

The 3.5 mm plug fits phones, tablets and computers directly, while the snap-on 1/4 inch adapter lets you connect to older audio equipment and language‑lab stations.
