Compatible Icom Marine Radios

This Ni-MH battery pack replaces the BP-224 and BP-224H cells used in Icom IC-M2A, IC-M21, IC-M31 and IC-M32 handhelds. It delivers 7.2V and 1100mAh capacity in a black housing that matches the original form factor. The pack is built to 100% OEM compatibility for direct installation.

Sustained Operation on the Water

The 7.92Wh energy rating supports extended transmit and receive cycles during long marine shifts. Ni-MH chemistry maintains stable voltage output across the discharge curve without the memory effect that plagued older nickel-cadmium packs. Users can expect consistent talk time throughout a full day of operation.

Thermal Behaviour and Efficiency

Ni-MH cells run cool during typical push-to-talk duty cycles and generate minimal heat while on standby. The chemistry accepts standard constant-current charging without the thermal spikes seen in high-rate lithium packs. Power draw remains low during receive mode, preserving capacity for when transmission is required.

Questions about this item

Does the 7.2 V 1100 mAh Ni-MH pack run hot during a full day of marine use?

Ni-MH chemistry stays cool under normal transmit cycles; the 7.92 Wh rating means modest heat even on long watches.

My Icom handheld uses a BP-224H pack — will this DS-CS-ICW310TW slide straight in?

Yes, it replaces BP-224 and BP-224H cells in the IC-M2A, IC-M31, IC-M21 and IC-M32 radios.

Will the 122.10 × 58.42 × 19.70 mm case fit the battery compartment on my older IC-M21?

The dimensions match the original BP-224 profile, so the IC-M21 latch closes normally.
