What this cartridge is and who it fits
The Canon PFI-2700 MBK is a genuine 700 mL matte black pigment ink cartridge, model 5287C001AA. It is made for the imagePROGRAF GP-2000 and GP-4000 printers and supplies one cartridge per box. Print shops, photographers and designers who use those two models will find the correct matte black supply here.
Behaviour during long print runs
The 700 mL volume supports high-volume output without frequent swaps, keeping the GP-2000 or GP-4000 running through extended jobs. Pigment-based matte black formulation resists fading and produces deep blacks and sharp text across thousands of pages. Consistent ink flow prevents clogging during sustained production, reducing downtime on large-format projects.
Installation notes and common issues
Cartridge installs by sliding into the designated matte black slot on the GP-2000 or GP-4000; the keyed shape prevents mis-insertion. Printer firmware recognises the chip automatically, so no manual reset is required. The only frequent problem occurs when users try to fit the tank into non-listed imagePROGRAF models, which the cartridge does not support.

Questions about this item
Does the 700 mL matte black cartridge raise the GP-4000's heat or fan noise during long print runs?
The cartridge itself has no moving parts and adds no heat or noise to the GP-4000; any temperature or fan change comes from the printer engine alone.
Which printer must I already own for the 5287C001AA to work?
It is made for the Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000 and GP-4000; other models will not accept this cartridge.
Can I keep using older PFI cartridges in the GP-2000 alongside this 2700 series tank?
No, the GP-2000 only accepts the PFI-2700 series, so earlier cartridges are not compatible.
