Professional 45MP mirrorless body

The Canon EOS R5 is a compact mirrorless camera built around a 45MP full-frame CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor. It targets professional image-makers who need high resolution, fast continuous shooting, and advanced video capabilities in a single body. The sensor-shift 5-axis image stabilisation works with any attached lens.

8K30 raw and 4K120 10-bit internal video

Internal 8K30 raw recording and 4K120 10-bit capture expand creative options for filmmakers and hybrid shooters. The vari-angle 3.2" rear touchscreen LCD supports vlogging and awkward angles. Dual Pixel CMOS AF with 1053 selectable points covers the entire frame and uses deep learning for subject, eye, face, and head detection.

Familiar EOS 5-series handling

The redesigned body retains familiar handling for EOS 5-series users while introducing a 0.5" 5.76 m-dot electronic viewfinder with a 120 fps refresh rate. Mechanical shutter delivers 12 fps continuous shooting. As a body-only product, buyers who need lenses, memory cards, or additional batteries must source them separately.

Questions about this item

Does the 45MP full-frame CMOS sensor need any periodic maintenance or replacement?

The 45MP full-frame CMOS sensor is a sealed component with no user-serviceable parts and no scheduled replacement interval.

What limit appears first during continuous 8K30 raw video recording?

Recording time is limited by internal thermal management; the camera will stop when the sensor and processor reach their safe operating temperature.

How much heat and noise does the body produce when shooting 12 fps continuously all day?

Sustained 12 fps mechanical-shutter bursts generate noticeable warmth in the grip area and audible shutter sound, but the 5-axis sensor-shift stabilisation has no moving fan.
