Lightest Full-Frame RF Camera

Sustained 4K 60p and 180 fps Full HD

Uncropped 4K movies are oversampled from 6K at up to 60 fps with a maximum record time of 2 hours. Full HD High-frame-rate recording reaches 180 fps for slow-motion work, while Canon Log 3 and HDR PQ preserve dynamic range for grading.

Questions about this item

How hot or noisy does the EOS R8 get when recording 4K 60p video continuously for two hours?

The camera is rated for a maximum movie record time of two hours, and its compact full-frame design relies on passive cooling; expect the body to become warm during long takes but there is no internal fan to generate noise.

Which RF-mount lens must I already own or buy separately to use this body for photography or video?

The EOS R8 uses Canon's RF mount, so any RF or RF-S lens will work; with an optional mount adapter you can also use EF and EF-S lenses from older EOS systems.

Will my existing EF-mount lenses focus quickly on the R8's Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system with 1,053 AF zones?

Yes, when paired with a Canon EF-EOS R adapter, EF lenses retain full autofocus functionality and benefit from the 1,053-zone Dual Pixel CMOS AF II covering 100% x 100% of the frame.
