Lightest full-frame EOS camera

The Canon EOS RP is the lightest and smallest full-frame mirrorless camera in the EOS lineup, built around a 26.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 processor. It targets photographers who want full-frame image quality in a highly portable body for everyday shooting.

RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM lens kit

The bundled lens provides a versatile 24-105mm zoom range with a variable aperture of f/4-7.1 and optical image stabilization rated up to 5 stops of shake correction. A lead-screw type STM motor delivers smooth autofocus, while the control ring allows quick adjustment of settings such as shutter speed and aperture. Center Macro Focus enables 0.5x maximum magnification for close-up work from as close as one inch.

RF mount with EF/EF-S compatibility

The camera uses Canon's RF mount and accepts RF lenses natively while also supporting existing EF and EF-S lenses via an adapter. This mount decision determines which lens ecosystem is directly available and whether legacy glass can be used without optical compromise.

Questions about this item

How often will the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM lens need its optical image stabilizer or STM motor serviced?

The lens uses a leadscrew-type STM motor and optical stabilization rated to 5 stops; neither has a user-service schedule, so only impact damage or heavy dust ingress would require professional attention.

What limits continuous shooting or video recording first — buffer depth, card speed, or heat?

The 26.2 MP full-frame sensor and DIGIC 8 processor write large files; sustained bursts or long clips will fill the buffer or hit the card’s write-speed ceiling before thermal throttling becomes the primary bottleneck.

How much heat and fan noise does the EOS RP produce when recording 4K video for an hour?

The compact body has no internal fan; heat dissipates through the chassis, so the camera grows warm but stays silent during extended 4K recording sessions.
