Compact UHD 4K camcorder for ENG work

The Canon XA60 is a lightweight professional camcorder built for documentary and journalism productions. It captures UHD 4K video at 30 frames per second and Full HD at 60 frames per second using a 1/2.3" CMOS sensor and DIG!C DV 6 processor. Dual SD card slots provide redundant or extended recording.

Upgrade from the XA45 with larger screen and USB UVC

This model replaces the XA45 and adds a larger 3.5" capacitive touchscreen LCD and a higher-resolution 0.36" tiltable OLED electronic viewfinder. A USB Type-C output with UVC support enables direct livestreaming to a computer without extra hardware. XF-AVC and MP4 recording formats and OSD metadata recording are also included.

Check for mini-HDMI monitoring

Verify that your external monitor or recorder accepts a mini-HDMI signal, as this is the only video output. Confirm your editing workflow handles XF-AVC and MP4 files from two SD cards. The integrated 20x optical zoom lens is fixed, so interchangeable-lens requirements cannot be met.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 3.5" touchscreen LCD and 0.36" OLED EVF need when the camcorder is mounted on a rig?

The 3.5" LCD is capacitive and tiltable for flexible viewing angles, while the 0.36" OLED EVF tilts independently, allowing both to clear most standard cage tops and matte boxes without interference.

What is the correct way to enable UVC streaming over USB Type-C, and what step is often missed?

Connect the USB Type-C port to a computer; the camera appears as a UVC video device without drivers, but you must set the output resolution in the menu to match your streaming software or only audio may pass through.

How often should the dual SD card slots be checked or the cards replaced for reliable 4K recording?

Dual slots allow simultaneous or relay recording to two cards; replace cards when write speeds drop below UHD 4K30 requirements or after heavy cycle counts to prevent dropped frames during long shoots.
