What this camera is and who it is for

The Cantek CTW-HAC-HFW1100R is a 1Mp HD-CVI outdoor mini bullet camera built for 720p surveillance at 30fps. It suits installers who need a compact, weatherproof unit for perimeter monitoring using existing coaxial infrastructure. Buyers who want higher megapixel counts or IP-based networking should consider other product lines.

Installation ease and common issues

The camera runs on 12VDC and uses a 3.6mm fixed lens, so there is no focal adjustment on site. Mounting is straightforward on a wall or bracket, but the fixed field of view means you must position it correctly the first time. The IP66 rated outdoor seal protects against rain and dust, yet overtightening cable glands can compromise the seal. Smart IR LEDs activate automatically at 0 Lux, though reflections from nearby surfaces can cause overexposure at night.

Practical limits of the HD-CVI interface

HD-CVI transmits 720p video over coaxial cable at 30fps, allowing long cable runs without the latency or bandwidth limits of IP streams. The 1/2.9" CMOS sensor and 2D digital noise reduction keep images usable in low light, but the 1Mp resolution caps facial recognition distance. Maximum IR illumination reaches 20m, so scenes beyond that range will rely on ambient light only. The standard does not carry power, so a separate 12VDC supply is always required.
