Riser-Rated 4-Conductor Cable

This 4-wire riser cable is designed for computer systems, control circuits and communication runs that must meet CMR fire-rating requirements. Installers working on in-wall or between-floor pathways can deploy it in plenum-exempt vertical shafts without additional conduit. The gray PVC jacket resists abrasion during pulls through studs and joists. It suits technicians who need a listed, shielded solution for low-voltage data and signalling.

300 V Voltage Limit and Riser Fire Rating

The cable carries a maximum voltage rating of 300 V and complies with NEC Article 800 CMR, restricting it to power-limited and communications circuits. It is not rated for plenum spaces, so it cannot replace CMP cable in air-handling areas. The 100 % aluminum/polyester Flexfoil shield covers all four conductors, yet the overall diameter remains 0.2 in for tight raceways. Voltage drop over the full 1000 ft length must be calculated by the installer for each application.

24 AWG Stranded Conductors Determine Fit

Each of the four conductors uses seven strands of 24 AWG copper, giving flexibility for termination on screw terminals, IDC blocks or modular plugs. Solid-conductor cable would not flex as easily in patch-panel trays, while larger gauges would exceed the 0.2 in jacket and crowd conduit fill. Buyers who need heavier current capacity or solid conductors for punch-down panels should select a different gauge or construction.

Questions about this item

Is the 1000 ft reel the only length available for this 4-wire riser cable?

The cable is supplied as a 1000 ft reel in a box; no other lengths are offered for this part number.

What does the 24 AWG stranded construction mean for voltage drop on a 1000 ft run?

At 24 AWG with 7-strand conductors the resistance is higher than thicker gauges, so voltage drop over the full 1000 ft will be noticeable on low-voltage circuits.

How does the CMR riser rating limit where this cable can be installed?

The NEC 800 CMR rating permits vertical runs between floors but does not allow use in plenum air spaces.
