Carol C2830A.18.10 Communication Cable

This Carol communication cable supplies 500 feet of 18 AWG stranded conductor for audio and control system wiring. The unshielded, gray PVC jacketed cable carries a 300 V maximum rating and meets NEC Article 800 CM commercial fire requirements.

Sustained Load Behavior

Stranded 16-strand conductors maintain flexibility during long pulls and resist fatigue when routed through conduit or cable trays. The PVC insulation and jacket withstand continuous operation at the rated 300 V without degradation from heat or environmental exposure.

Deciding Specification

The 18 AWG, two-conductor, unshielded construction determines compatibility with low-voltage audio and control circuits. Installers needing shielded pairs, higher conductor counts, or plenum-rated jackets must select a different cable type.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 18 AWG stranded cable produce when carrying 300 V continuously?

The 18 AWG stranded conductors are rated for 300 V maximum; heat depends on actual current draw and installation conditions, not the voltage rating alone.

What connectors or terminals do I need to terminate the 16-strand 18 AWG conductors?

Use terminals or connectors rated for 18 AWG stranded wire; the cable has two unshielded conductors with PVC insulation on a 500 ft spool.

Can the gray PVC jacketed cable run alongside older CM-rated wiring in the same tray?

Yes, it carries NEC Article 800 CM fire rating, so it is approved for commercial installations alongside other CM-rated cables.
