Plenum-Rated 14 AWG Wire for Low-Voltage Systems

This 14 AWG stranded two-conductor cable carries a plenum fire rating and meets NEC articles 725 CL3P, 760 FPLP and 800 CMP. It is built for alarm, audio and control circuits that run through air-handling spaces. The natural PVC jacket protects 19-strand conductors rated to 300 V.

Voltage and Code Limits for CL3P, FPLP and CMP Runs

The 300 V maximum rating restricts use to power-limited and communication circuits defined by the listed NEC articles. Plenum rating allows installation in ducts and plenums without conduit, but the cable must not exceed the voltage class or be used for branch-circuit power. Unshielded construction offers no protection against electromagnetic interference in noisy environments.

Pull-Box Format Simplifies Long Pulls

The 1000 ft pulling pack pays out from the centre, reducing kinks and snags during installation through walls and ceilings. Stranded 19-strand conductors bend more easily than solid wire, yet the 0.2 in outside diameter still requires care around tight bends. Common issues include exceeding the minimum bend radius and stripping the thin PVC insulation too aggressively.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 14 AWG 2-conductor version for my alarm system or a different gauge?

The 14 AWG 2-conductor plenum wire supports up to 300 V and meets NEC 725 CL3P, 760 FPLP and 800 CMP for alarm, audio and control systems.

What does the 300 V rating mean when the cable is installed in a building?

The 300 V maximum voltage rating covers power-limited circuits such as fire alarm, audio and control wiring in plenum spaces.

How does the CL3P, FPLP and CMP listing affect what I can run this cable for?

The NEC 725 CL3P, 760 FPLP and 800 CMP ratings allow installation in plenum air spaces for alarm, audio and control circuits.
