Computerised 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain

The Celestron NexStar 6SE is a fully computerised Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with a six-inch aperture. It combines the classic orange-tube heritage with modern StarBright XLT high-transmission coatings. The mount features SkyAlign alignment technology and a flash-upgradeable hand controller. The system arrives pre-assembled for immediate observing sessions.

Visual observers wanting guided tours

This telescope suits beginners who want a guided tour of the night sky and automatic object location at the touch of a button. It includes The Sky Level 1 software for laptop or PC planning. Astrophotographers needing long-exposure tracking or users requiring a portable grab-and-go instrument should consider other configurations.

Six-inch aperture with StarBright XLT coatings

The six-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube uses StarBright XLT high-transmission coatings to maximise light throughput. This specification determines the limiting magnitude and resolution available for visual observation of planets, stars and deep-sky objects.

Questions about this item

Does the 11068 NexStar 6SE require a tripod or mount to operate?

The telescope comes pre-assembled on its included computerized fork arm mount and tripod so it is ready to use straight from the box.

Can I control the 11068 NexStar 6SE with planetarium software on a laptop?

Yes, the bundled “The Sky” Level 1 software lets you locate and identify thousands of celestial objects from a PC and send slew commands to the hand control.

How do I confirm the 11068 NexStar 6SE is aligned and tracking correctly after setup?

After running the SkyAlign routine using three bright stars, the hand control will report alignment successful and the telescope will keep the selected object centred in the eyepiece as the Earth rotates.
