Telescope type and intended use

The Celestron Advanced VX 6" Refractor Telescope is a 150mm aperture instrument with a 1200mm focal length and f/8 ratio. It suits observers and imagers who want unobstructed, high-contrast views of planets and brighter deep-sky objects.

Aperture and focal length

The 150mm aperture gathers ample light while the 1200mm focal length delivers a native f/8 focal ratio. This combination determines the achievable magnification and field of view for both visual observation and imaging sessions.

Included accessory kit contents

The Deluxe Accessory Kit adds five 1.25" Plossl eyepieces, a 1.25" Barlow lens and a 1.25" filter set in a carry case. These expand magnification options and enhance contrast without requiring separate purchases.

Questions about this item

What does the 150 mm aperture mean for actual observing?

The 150 mm aperture gathers substantially more light than smaller refractors, so planetary surfaces and brighter deep-sky objects appear with higher contrast and finer detail.

How does the f/8 focal ratio affect imaging choices?

The f/8 ratio provides a 1200 mm focal length that suits planetary imaging with high magnification and works well for brighter deep-sky targets when paired with a dedicated camera.

What do I need to mount the optical tube on the Advanced VX?

The tube uses a standard Vixen-style dovetail bar that clamps directly into the Advanced VX saddle; the stainless steel tripod with 2-inch legs is included for a stable platform.
