5-bay 3.5 enclosure with 12Gb/s SAS and SATA

This Chenbro SK33502T3 enclosure holds five 3.5 inch hard drives and connects through a 12Gb/s SAS and SATA backplane. It is built for storage arrays that need high-density 3.5 inch bays and dual-protocol support in a single chassis. The unit ships in brown box packaging as a new accessory.

Suited for SAS or SATA 3.5 inch deployments

This enclosure suits builders adding 3.5 inch SAS or SATA drives to a 12Gb/s infrastructure. It does not support 2.5 inch drives or other form factors. Buyers needing a different bay count or drive size should consider alternative enclosures.

Questions about this item

What does the 12 Gb/s SAS link mean once the enclosure is installed in a server?

The 12 Gb/s SAS backplane lets each 3.5 inch drive run at full SAS 3.0 speed, so RAID arrays or JBOD volumes see the maximum throughput the drives can deliver.

How does the SAS/SATA backplane limit the drives I can use?

The backplane accepts both SAS and SATA 3.5 inch drives, but the 12 Gb/s SAS interface caps transfer rates at that speed even if a drive supports a faster protocol.
