Cisco Catalyst 9115AXI-R Wireless Access Point

Indoor Wi-Fi 6 Access Point

The Cisco Catalyst 9115AXI-R is an indoor wireless access point with internal antennas that delivers Wi-Fi 6 performance using 4x4 dual-radio MU-MIMO technology. It supports a data rate up to 5.38 Gbps and includes Bluetooth 5.0 for location-based services such as wayfinding and asset tracking. An embedded wireless controller simplifies deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting without a separate appliance. The unit ships with 2048 MB DRAM and 1024 MB flash memory.

Pre-installation Checklist

Verify that your network infrastructure provides a Gigabit Ethernet connection for the uplink and that Power over Ethernet is available to supply the access point. Confirm the mounting location suits the 8.0 by 8.0 by 1.5 inch form factor and 1.98 lb weight. Ensure the environment is indoors and within the operating temperature range specified by the manufacturer. Check that existing devices can use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands to benefit from the new radio.

Upgrade Considerations

This access point replaces older indoor units that lack Wi-Fi 6, MU-MIMO or integrated Bluetooth Low Energy. The jump is worthwhile when higher client density, lower latency through OFDMA or improved device battery life via Target Wake Time are required. It also adds an embedded controller, removing the need for a separate hardware controller in small to medium deployments. Buyers who need outdoor-rated enclosures or external antenna connectors should consider other models.
