Cisco Catalyst 9162I Tri-Band Access Point

The Cisco Catalyst 9162I is a Wi-Fi 6E indoor access point built for high-density enterprise environments. It uses three client-serving radios across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands to deliver a combined aggregate throughput of up to 3.9 Gbps. Dedicated scanning and BLE/IoT radios add continuous spectrum analysis and location services without impacting client performance. This unit carries Regulatory Domain B certification for specific international markets.

2.5 Gbps mGig Uplink and PoE+ Power Requirements

The single 2.5 Gbps multigigabit Ethernet port prevents wired bottlenecks that would otherwise limit tri-band wireless throughput. Full tri-band operation requires an 802.3at PoE+ connection supplying 30W; the access point will not activate all three radios on lower power budgets. An optional 12V DC input is available for deployments without PoE infrastructure. The console and USB 2.0 ports provide local management and peripheral connectivity.

Universal Mounting Bracket and Dual Management Modes

A universal bracket in the box supports ceiling, wall, or junction-box installation on the low-profile 7.9 x 7.9 x 1.7 inch chassis. The hardware runs Cisco IOS-XE 17.9.2 and offers a unique dual-management architecture: choose Meraki cloud management or Catalyst on-premises controllers without changing hardware. Buyers without PoE+ switches or injector budget cannot enable full tri-band functionality. Environments requiring outdoor or industrial temperature ratings need a different model.
