Connects two analog phones or fax machines to a VoIP network via a single 100 Mbps Ethernet port and wall-mountable design
The Cisco ATA 191 is a two-port analog telephone adapter that connects legacy phones, fax machines or overhead paging systems to an IP telephony network. It suits small offices, enterprise branches or cloud UCaaS deployments that need to keep existing analog endpoints while migrating to VoIP.
A single Fast Ethernet RJ-45 port provides 100 Mb/sec wired connectivity and the unit operates without Power over Ethernet, so a local power source is required. Two FXS RJ-11 ports each support an independent SIP registration, and the wall-mountable chassis allows placement in wiring closets or on desktops where AC power is available.
This adapter replaces a direct analog line connection by registering each port to a SIP trunk or hosted PBX, preserving legacy hardware investment. It does not suit environments that require PoE-powered endpoints, additional network uplinks or more than two simultaneous analog devices.

The 100 Mb/sec Fast Ethernet link limits throughput to 100 megabits per second for all VoIP traffic.
It includes keyhole slots for wall mounting and rubber feet for stable desktop placement.
An external power supply connects to the DC jack; the step often missed is plugging the supply in before linking the Ethernet cable.
