24-port Gigabit switch with 10G uplinks

The Cisco Catalyst C1300-24T-4X delivers 24 RJ45 ports at 10/100/1000 speeds plus four SFP+ slots for 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks. It operates at Layer 3 for routing between VLANs and is managed through a web interface, mobile app or Cisco Business Dashboard. The fanless design runs on 120 V or 230 V AC, consuming 27.25 W.

Gigabit copper and 10G fibre limits

Twisted-pair links negotiate at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps per port; the four SFP+ cages accept 10GBase-X optics for fibre uplinks. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet reduces power on idle links. The switch supports IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation, 802.1D/w/s spanning tree and 802.1p QoS, but provides no PoE power on any port.

Small-business core with room to grow

Twenty-four copper ports connect workstations, printers and access points while the four 10G uplinks aggregate traffic to servers or a distribution switch. Layer 3 routing handles inter-VLAN traffic without a separate router. Security features include IP-MAC port binding and IPv6 First Hop Security. The unit fits a standard 1U rack space and requires no licence fees.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 24-port RJ45 model with 4 SFP+ uplinks or a different capacity?

This model provides exactly 24 Gigabit RJ45 ports and 4 SFP+ uplink slots, so choose it when you need that specific port count and 10 Gigabit uplinks.

What does the 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplink spec mean once the switch is installed?

The four SFP+ slots accept 10GBase-X modules, giving each uplink up to 10 Gbit/s for server or core connections.

Which SFP+ standard do the uplinks use and what speed does it cap at?

The uplinks use SFP+ slots running 10GBase-X, capping each at 10 Gbit/s.
