Purpose-built IP Phone for Unified Communications
The Cisco IP Phone 8865 in Charcoal is a VoIP desk phone designed for use with Unified Communications Manager. It supports five programmable line keys and integrates Bluetooth plus IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi for wireless headset and network flexibility. Dual RJ-45 ports with PoE allow a single-cable deployment for both data and power.
Suited to managed Cisco environments only
This model fits organisations already standardised on Cisco UCM and the Enhanced User Connect licence. It will not suit buyers who need a SIP phone for third-party PBX platforms or a purely analogue handset. Teams requiring colour touchscreens or built-in video cameras should look at a different product class.
Licence-dependent feature set
The handset ships with an Enhanced User Connect License for Unified Communications Manager, which governs the available call-control features and line capacity. Without that licence entitlement the phone cannot register to the call-control system, so licence ownership is the single factor that determines whether this hardware is usable in your deployment.

Questions about this item
How do I connect the CP-8865-K9= to the network and power it using the PoE port?
Plug a single Ethernet cable into one of the two RJ-45 network ports; the phone draws power through that PoE connection so no separate adapter is needed.
Which user-replaceable parts on the 8865 IP Phone will need attention over time?
The corded handset, the coiled handset cord and the optional Bluetooth headset battery are the components most likely to wear out and require replacement.
At what point does the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless link become the limiting factor during heavy call loads?
Sustained high-density voice traffic can saturate the Wi-Fi bandwidth before the dual RJ-45 wired ports reach their capacity, making the wireless link the first bottleneck.
