Connects two analogue phones or fax machines to a VoIP system over 100 Mb LAN
The Cisco VG202XM is a two-port analog voice gateway module that connects legacy phones, fax machines and modems to an IP telephony system. It runs Cisco IOS software and integrates with Unified Communications Manager or Unified Communications Manager Express for centralised call control.
This module suits organisations with a small number of analogue endpoints that need to join an existing Cisco voice infrastructure. It does not suit sites that require high-density analogue connectivity or deployments without a Cisco call-control platform.
The two FXS ports comfortably handle a handful of phones, fax devices or speakerphones in a branch or small office. Capacity runs out when analogue port counts grow beyond two, at which point the four-port VG204XM, 24-port VG224 or 160-port VG350 become the appropriate alternatives.

The VG202XM runs Cisco IOS software and registers its two analog ports to Cisco Unified Communications Manager or Unified CM Express; the specific minimum release is documented in the Cisco IOS Voice Configuration Guide for the VG200 series.
Yes, both the VG202XM and the VG224 use a 100 Mb Ethernet uplink and register to the same Unified CM cluster, so they can coexist on the same access switch without bandwidth conflict.
After boot, the module’s status LED turns solid green and each of the two port LEDs shows steady green when its FXS port has successfully registered to Unified Communications Manager.
