15MIL Clear Heavy-Duty Transparent Tarp

This 15MIL thick polyvinyl chloride tarp provides waterproof and tear-resistant coverage for outdoor and indoor use. It offers 100% light transmittance while blocking wind and rain, making it suitable for greenhouses, plant protection, and general shelter. Reinforced edges with polypropylene rope and aluminum alloy grommets spaced approximately 20 inches apart allow secure fastening. The tarp is engineered to withstand strong winds up to 57mph.

Sustained Outdoor Exposure and Load

The PVC construction resists tearing and deformation under continuous tension from tie-downs and wind pressure. Corner reinforcements with plastic sheets distribute stress to prevent grommet pull-out during prolonged use. The material maintains waterproof integrity and light transmission over time, supporting photosynthesis for covered plants throughout extended deployments. Creases from compact packaging can be removed by soaking in hot water before installation.

Thermal and Environmental Performance

The transparent film transmits full sunlight while retaining heat, creating a warmer microclimate beneath the cover. This passive heat retention benefits greenhouse and cold-frame applications without requiring power. The tarp blocks wind and rain effectively, reducing convective cooling and moisture ingress. No electrical components or active systems are present, so operational noise and power draw are zero.

Questions about this item

Does the 15MIL PVC material trap heat when the tarp covers a greenhouse all day?

The tarp transmits 100% of light while blocking wind and rain, so sunlight passes through to warm the interior rather than being absorbed by the cover itself.

What mounting hardware do I need to secure the grommets spaced 20 inches apart?

You will need rope, bungee cords or zip ties that fit through the aluminium-alloy grommets; the reinforced polypropylene rope in the hem is already sewn in.

Can the reinforced corners and 57 mph wind rating hold up on a carport frame I already own?

The heat-sealed corners with plastic reinforcement and aluminium grommets are designed for that wind speed, so they will attach securely to standard carport tubing or eye bolts.
