Connects a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 source to an HDMI 2.0a display with HDR support at 4K 60 Hz
This active adapter connects a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 source to an HDMI 2.0a display. It enables 4K 60Hz HDR output from laptops or desktops to HDR-capable monitors, TVs or projectors. The converter handles the signal translation so the source and display can communicate directly.
The adapter draws power from the Mini DisplayPort source, so no external supply is needed. It operates silently with no fan or moving parts. Power consumption stays within the source port limits while delivering up to 5.4 Gbit/s bandwidth for high-resolution video and audio.
Built-in CEC tunnelling lets the source and display exchange control commands. The HDCP 2.2 repeater function maintains protected-content playback across the link. Chroma down-sampling and stereoscopic 3D forwarding are also handled without extra software.

Plug the Mini DisplayPort 1.4 male end into the source and the HDMI 2.0a female end into the display; the step often missed is confirming the source supports DisplayPort 1.4 and the screen supports HDR plus HDMI 2.0a or 2.0b for HDR to function.
The active adapter has no user-serviceable parts; if the 5.4 Gbit/s link fails or the HDCP 2.2 repeater stops handing off to HDCP 1.4, replace the unit.
The 5.4 Gbit/s data rate caps the HDMI output to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz with RGB or YCbCr 4:4:4 at 8 bpc, so higher colour depths drop to 4:2:2 or 4:2:0.
