Plenum-Rated Cat5e Cable

CMPLE Cat5e Plenum Cable is a bulk UTP Ethernet cable supplied in a 1000ft pull-box. It carries a CMP rating for installation in plenum air spaces such as drop ceilings and raised floors, and is also suitable for riser runs between floors. The cable uses 24AWG copper-clad aluminium conductors and a blue FRPVC jacket that limits flame spread and toxic smoke. It connects with standard unshielded Cat5e keystone jacks and RJ45 connectors.

Sustained Load Performance

Over the full 328ft (100m) channel the cable supports 10 to 1000 Mbps data rates with 350 MHz bandwidth. The solid UTP construction minimises crosstalk to maintain signal integrity during continuous PoE, IP camera or mesh network traffic. At shorter distances the IEEE 802.3bz standard enables 2.5GBase-T and 5GBase-T operation, so sustained throughput scales with link length rather than bursting to a higher peak.

Cat5e Interface Limits

The Cat5e standard caps guaranteed performance at 1000 Mbps over 100 meters, so 10GbE cannot be supported regardless of cable quality. Bandwidth is specified to 350 MHz, which is above the base 100 MHz requirement but still bounds the maximum usable frequency. Installers must observe the 328ft channel limit and avoid sharp bends that could degrade the unshielded twisted pairs.
