Industrial Long-Range Barcode Reader

The Cogno DMR-72Q-0150 DataMan 70 is a fixed-mount barcode reader built for industrial identification tasks. Its 1280x960 pixel CMOS sensor with global shutter captures clear images of moving codes. The device supports RS-232 and Ethernet protocols for integration into automation networks. It suits logistics, manufacturing and traceability workflows requiring reliable long-range scanning.

Low Power Consumption and Thermal Profile

The unit draws only 2.5 W from a 5-24 Vdc supply, keeping heat output minimal inside cabinets. No active cooling is required, so operation remains silent in quiet production zones. The global shutter sensor reduces motion blur without increasing power draw. This efficiency simplifies power budgeting for multi-reader installations.

Flexible Connectivity and Mounting Options

A 15-pin D-Sub connector and USB-C port provide cabling choices for legacy and modern controllers. Three focal positions let installers tune the working distance without swapping optics. The reader accepts standard industrial voltage levels directly, reducing the need for extra converters. These features shorten setup time on the line.

Questions about this item

How is the 15-pin D-Sub connector wired for the 5-24Vdc supply?

The 15-pin D-Sub carries power and RS-232 signals; pin 1 is ground and pin 9 supplies 5-24Vdc. Verify the pin-out before crimping to avoid reversed polarity.

What maintenance does the 1/3" CMOS sensor with three focal positions require?

Clean the front window with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol; the liquid lens has no moving parts and needs no periodic adjustment.

At what point does the 2.5 W power limit restrict sustained scanning?

Continuous high-speed decoding at full 1280x960 resolution draws the full 2.5 W; if the supply sags below 5 Vdc the reader will throttle frame rate.
