CS-mount varifocal lens for 1/2" sensors

The Computar Ganz H3Z4518CS-MPIR is a 3 MP manual-iris varifocal lens covering 4.5-13.2mm at F1.8. It targets installers fitting CS-mount day/night cameras with 1/2” format sensors who need adjustable field of view without repositioning the housing.

Verify camera mount and sensor format

Confirm the camera uses a CS-mount flange and a 1/2” sensor; C-mount cameras will not focus correctly without an adapter ring. Ensure the iris cable or auto-iris connector matches the lens manual-iris design and that the housing provides clearance for the locking set screws on zoom, focus and iris rings.

Locking rings and IR correction simplify setup

Locking set screws on all three rings prevent drift from vibration so the chosen focal length and focus point stay fixed after commissioning. IR-corrected optics eliminate focus shift between visible and infrared light, allowing true day/night operation without refocusing when the camera switches modes.

Questions about this item

Does the lens ship with any accessories or do I need to buy a CS-mount camera separately?

The lens is supplied on its own; a CS-mount megapixel camera with a 1/2" sensor must be purchased separately.

The model name includes 4.5-13.2mm and 3x zoom — is that the only focal-length option?

Yes, this model provides a single 4.5-13.2mm varifocal range with 3x zoom; no other focal-length versions are offered.

How does the f/1.8 aperture perform when the lens is mounted on a real 1/2" sensor camera?

At f/1.8 the lens gathers ample light for low-light scenes, and the iris stops down to f/16 for bright conditions while the IR-corrected optics prevent focus shift between day and night.
