3-Megapixel CCTV Varifocal Lens

The Computar Ganz HG5Z2518FC-MP is a 3-megapixel varifocal lens designed for CCTV and analog surveillance cameras. It suits installers who need adjustable focal length on a 1/2-inch format sensor for long-range monitoring applications.

DC Auto-Iris and Focus Features

The bundled DC auto-iris mechanism automatically adjusts aperture to maintain consistent exposure across changing light conditions. Precise focus adjustment and corner brightness optimisation help deliver maximum sharpness and detail at distances beyond 500 feet.

C-Mount Installation Notes

The lens uses a standard C-mount thread for direct attachment to compatible cameras. Installers must verify the camera supports DC auto-iris control and 1/2-inch format; mismatched sensor size or iris protocol will prevent correct operation.

Questions about this item

Will the DC auto-iris mechanism on the HG5Z2518FC-MP need periodic servicing?

The DC auto-iris is a sealed unit with no user-serviceable parts; it adjusts aperture automatically and requires no scheduled maintenance.

What limits continuous telephoto use at 135mm on this lens?

At 135mm the F1.8 aperture narrows the depth of field, so precise focus becomes the practical limit during long surveillance sessions.

Does the 25-135mm varifocal generate noticeable heat during all-day operation?

The all-metal barrel runs at ambient temperature; there are no motors or electronics inside that produce measurable heat.
