Varifocal CCTV lens for 2/3" sensors

The Computar Ganz MG3Z1228FC-MP is a 12-36mm varifocal lens with a constant F2.8 aperture designed for 2/3 inch format CCTV cameras. It suits installers who need adjustable field of view on analog or megapixel surveillance systems using C-mount housings.

C-mount DC auto-iris with locking rings

The lens ships with a C-mount thread and a DC auto-iris connector that plugs directly into compatible camera bodies. Built-in locking mechanisms secure both focus and iris positions after adjustment, preventing drift from vibration or handling during maintenance.

Verify sensor format and iris control before

Confirm the camera uses a 2/3 inch or smaller sensor to avoid vignetting and that the body provides a DC auto-iris drive socket. The lens will not operate its iris on video-drive or manual-iris only cameras, and larger sensors exceed the rated image circle.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the MG3Z1228FC-MP lens is operating correctly after installation?

Verify the 12-36mm zoom range moves smoothly, check that the DC auto-iris responds to lighting changes, and ensure focus remains sharp across the frame with low distortion at both 12 and 36 settings.

What comes in the box with the Computar Ganz MG3Z1228FC-MP and what must I purchase separately?

The package includes the varifocal lens with built-in locking mechanisms for focus and iris; a compatible C-mount camera body and DC auto-iris drive cable are required separately.

Which version of the MG3Z1228FC-MP should I choose for my application?

Select the DC auto-iris model for automatic exposure control in changing light, or the manual iris variant if you prefer fixed aperture adjustment; both share the 12-36mm F2.8 optical specification.
