Computar Ganz T2Z1816CS 1.8-3.6mm f1.6 Varifocal CCTV Lens

Super-wide varifocal lens for CS-mount cameras

The Computar Ganz T2Z1816CS is a manual-iris varifocal lens built for 1/3-inch format CCTV cameras. It covers a focal-length range of 1.8mm to 3.6mm with a maximum aperture of f1.6, letting installers dial in the exact field of view without swapping fixed lenses. All-glass optics and a metal barrel with locking setscrews keep the setting secure once adjusted. The CS-mount flange back length is 12.5mm.

Passive thermals and manual controls

With no motors or electronics, the lens produces zero noise and draws no power. Its all-metal construction dissipates heat passively across the 37.4mm by 51mm barrel, so operating temperature stays within the rated -20°C to 50°C range without active cooling. Iris, focus and zoom are each adjusted by hand, giving the installer direct tactile control over exposure and framing.

Consistent optics across the zoom range

At the 1.8mm wide end the lens delivers a 173.8° diagonal angle of view, capturing a 123.8cm by 56.5cm object area at 0.2m minimum object distance. At 3.6mm the diagonal narrows to 99.0° with a 33.2cm by 22.9cm object area at the same distance. Back focal length shifts from 7.0mm at wide to 10.5mm at tele, while the effective front aperture remains 22.0mm and rear aperture 7.9mm throughout, maintaining predictable exposure and depth-of-field behaviour during extended surveillance sessions.
