CS-mount varifocal lens for 1/3" sensors

The Computar Ganz TG3Z2910AFCS-IR is a CS-mount CCTV lens built for 1/3-inch format day/night cameras. Its 2.9-8.2mm varifocal range lets installers adjust the field of view without repositioning the camera. An f/1.0 maximum aperture supports low-light surveillance, while the video auto iris maintains exposure across changing conditions.

Upgrading from fixed focal length lenses

This varifocal replaces a fixed lens when the scene width must be tuned after mounting. The jump is worth it when the camera position is permanent but the required coverage angle is uncertain or may change. Manual zoom and focus with locking setscrews secure the chosen setting against vibration.

Limited to CS-mount 1/3" format cameras

The lens covers a 1/3-inch sensor circle; larger sensors will vignette. The CS flange distance prevents use on C-mount bodies without an adapter, which is not included. Focus travels from .5 m to infinity, so extreme close-ups below half a metre are not possible.

Questions about this item

Will this lens fit a standard CS-mount camera with a 1/3" sensor?

Yes, the TG3Z2910AFCS-IR is designed specifically for CS-mount cameras using 1/3" format sensors, with a metal barrel and mount for secure attachment.

How do I set up the video auto iris, and what step is often missed?

Connect the auto-iris cable to the camera's iris port, then adjust the manual zoom and focus rings while the camera is powered; the step often missed is locking both rings with the supplied setscrews so the setting holds.

Will the IR correction need recalibration or replacement over time?

The IR-corrected, all-glass aspherical optics eliminate focus shift between day and night modes, so no recalibration is required; the lens is built for continuous operation without scheduled replacement.
