Outdoor photoelectric detector covers 70 ft with IP65 protection, 14kV surge protection and 99% beam blocking stability

  • Protects the extreme property perimeter as first line of defense
  • IP65 rated for rain, dust and insect protection
  • Surge protection up to 14 kV for lightning resilience
  • 99 % beam blocking stability ensures reliable detection
  • A.G.C. circuit maintains consistent performance over distance

Perimeter Protection Range

The Computar Ganz ZI-AO20 is a short-range photoelectric detector built for outdoor perimeter security. It creates an invisible beam barrier up to 70 ft long to catch intruders at the property edge. The unit suits homes and businesses wanting a first line of defense before a breach occurs.

IP65 Build and Surge Protection

An IP65 rated enclosure shields the optics from rain, dust and insects for reliable year-round operation. Integrated surge protection handles spikes up to 14 kV to keep the detector alive during storms. The housing and circuitry are manufactured in Japan for consistent build quality.

Beam Stability and AGC Circuit

Automatic Gain Control adjusts receiver sensitivity to maintain 99% beam blocking stability in fog, dust or bright sunlight. This reduces false alarms while keeping genuine intrusions detected. The detector replaces simple motion sensors where a defined, stable perimeter line is required instead of broad area coverage.

Questions about this item

What does the IP65 rating protect the ZI-AO20 against?

The IP65 enclosure shields the detector from rain, dust and insects, so it remains reliable in exposed outdoor positions.

What mounting considerations apply to this 70 ft photoelectric detector?

Align the transmitter and receiver units precisely across the 20 m span; the housing is designed for wall or pole mounting at the property perimeter.

How do I wire the ZI-AO20 and which step is often missed?

Connect power and alarm output to the terminal block, then verify beam alignment using the AGC circuit indicator — skipping the alignment check causes false trips.
