Mounts and modules are cut for one camera line

Most brackets, ceiling mounts and add-on modules are made for a single camera family, so copy the model number from the camera's label and compare it with the part title. Look at the mounting surface too: wall, ceiling, pole or junction box each need a different bracket. Check the bracket's load rating against the camera's weight. The chimes, enhancer boards and audio modules in the examples are model-specific, and some work only with the maker's own hub or recorder.

Power supply voltage, polarity and the amp budget

CCTV cameras commonly run on 12 V DC, and the adapter must match voltage and plug size, usually with a positive center pin. Add up the current each camera draws, then pick a supply rated for more than that total, with a safety margin. A multi-channel supply, such as a 4-channel box, powers several cameras from one outlet. Combined video-and-power cables carry BNC and DC on a single run, but long runs drop voltage, so use thicker wire for distance.

Questions about Camera Mounts, Power Supplies and Camera Add-Ons

How do I know a mount fits my camera?
Match the camera's exact model number to the mount's compatibility line, then compare the hole pattern and weight limit. Universal brackets exist but may not clear a camera's cable exit or sun shield.
How do I size a power supply for several cameras?
Add the current draw of every camera, which is on the label in amps or milliamps, and choose a supply rated well above the total. For example, four cameras at 0.5 A each need a supply rated for more than 2 A.
Can I use any 12 V adapter on my camera?
Only if the voltage, polarity and plug size match, and the adapter can supply at least the camera's current. A wrong polarity or a higher voltage can destroy the camera, so read the label on both.
