Each module runs at PC3-10600 speed with CL9 9-9-9 timings at 1.5 V. The 2Rx4 organisation and registered buffer mean the memory controller must support registered ECC; unbuffered ECC modules cannot be mixed in the same system.

Six-Slot Triple-Channel Platform

The T5500 provides six DIMM sockets per processor, expandable to nine with the optional riser card. Registered ECC allows up to 48 GB per CPU, but 1333 MHz operation is only guaranteed with one DIMM per channel on Xeon X5550 or higher processors; slower Xeons or fuller banks will downclock to 1066 MHz or 800 MHz.
