Cooler Master V850 SFX Gold 850W

The Cooler Master V850 SFX Gold is an 850 W fully modular power supply built to the SFX 12V 3.42 and ATX 3.1 standards. It carries 80 PLUS Gold certification at 90 % typical load efficiency and uses a single 92 mm FDB fan for cooling. The 125 mm length and included SFX-to-ATX bracket let it fit mini-ITX through E-ATX cases.

Upgrade from older SFX units

Replacing an SFX supply that lacks ATX 3.1 or PCIe 5.1 support makes sense when a new GPU requires the 12VHPWR connector or when 80 PLUS Gold efficiency is desired for lower heat output. The 90-degree 12VHPWR cable and native ATX 3.1 compliance remove the need for adapters on current-generation graphics cards.

Check case clearance and cable reach

Verify the case accepts a 125 mm deep SFX unit and that the 90-degree 12VHPWR connector orientation clears the GPU shroud. Shortened modular cables are optimised for small builds; larger chassis may need extension cables for the 24-pin ATX, EPS, or PCIe runs. Confirm the 100-240 V input range matches local mains.

Questions about this item

Will the 125 mm SFX body and 92 mm FDB fan fit my mini-ITX case?

The unit is 125 mm long with a single 92 mm fluid-dynamic-bearing fan, so it fits standard SFX bays and the included SFX-to-ATX bracket lets it mount in larger ATX cases as well.

Which cables plug into the fully modular sockets first, and which 12VHPWR orientation avoids strain?

Connect the 300 mm ATX 24-pin, the 450 mm EPS 4+4 and 8-pin, the two 400+120 mm PCIe 6+2 chains, the 400 mm 12VHPWR with its 90-degree angled head, then the two SATA strings and the peripheral string; the angled 12VHPWR reduces bend radius against the GPU.

When should I clean or replace the 92 mm FDB fan to keep noise low?

Vacuum dust from the fan grille every 6–12 months; if bearing noise appears or RPM drops, replace the 92 mm FDB fan with an equivalent 92 mm unit to restore the original acoustic profile.
