Capture via USB 2.0

This USB 2.0 video adapter captures analogue video and audio through four connectors without a separate sound card. It draws power from the bus so no external supply is required. The package includes Video Studio 8.0 SE editing software for recording and basic post-production. It targets users converting VHS tapes or similar sources to digital files on Windows systems.

Sustained capture stability

The device streams NTSC at 720x480 at 30fps or PAL at 720x576 at 25fps across the USB 2.0 link. Because the interface caps throughput, long sessions remain stable without dropped frames when the host meets the minimum Pentium III 800 MHz CPU and 600 MB free disk space. Brightness, contrast, hue and saturation controls adjust the incoming signal in real time during extended recordings.

Upgrading from internal cards

This adapter replaces an internal capture card when a free expansion slot is unavailable or when the build must stay compact. The 30 cm USB tail and 17 cm four-input cable keep the dongle close to the source while the 8 cm capture body stays portable. It is not suited for workflows needing higher resolutions, multi-channel audio or macOS and Linux support.

Questions about this item

Does the USB 2.0 capture adapter run hot or draw much power during long VHS sessions?

It draws power from the USB 2.0 port alone with no external supply needed, so heat and power draw stay low during extended capture.

What does the buyer need to provide besides the adapter to start digitising tapes?

A Windows PC with USB 2.0, a Pentium III 800 MHz or faster CPU, 600 MB free disk space, and an analogue video source with RCA outputs.

Will this adapter work alongside an older PCI capture card I keep for legacy projects?

Yes — it uses a separate USB 2.0 connection and its own Video Studio 8.0 SE software, so it operates independently of any internal capture hardware.
