What this adapter does

This Corn Electronics adapter converts a USB-C port into a standard USB 3.0 Type-A socket while adding On-The-Go support for phones and tablets. The 160 mm braided cable lets you plug in flash drives, keyboards, mice or hubs without blocking the adjacent port on a laptop. Two red units are included in the pack.

Who it suits and who it does not

It suits anyone with a USB-C laptop, phone or tablet that supports OTG and needs a short, durable tether for legacy USB-A peripherals. Buyers whose devices lack OTG capability, or who need a longer reach or a right-angle connector, should look at something else.

The specification that decides fit

The adapter delivers USB 3.0 data rates up to 5 Gbps and is rated for 10000 bend cycles at 360 degrees. If your workflow requires that throughput and a cable that survives repeated flexing, this part matches the requirement.

Questions about this item

Should I buy the single adapter or the two-pack?

The product is sold as a 2 pack, giving you two identical USB-C to USB 3.0 OTG adapters with 160mm cables.

What does the 5 Gbps transfer rate mean for everyday use?

It supports USB 3.0 SuperSpeed, so you can move large files such as HD movies to a USB-C laptop or phone much faster than USB 2.0 allows.

How does the USB 3.0 interface limit performance in practice?

The adapter caps at USB 3.0 5 Gbps, so even if you plug in a faster drive you will not exceed that bandwidth.
