Capture & Streaming Device

The Elgato Game Capture 4K S is a compact external capture device for creators who record or stream gameplay from consoles and PCs. It connects via USB 3.0 Gen 1 Type-C and accepts two HDMI inputs plus a 3.5 mm analogue audio line-in. The unit supports Windows, macOS and iPadOS with plug-and-play UVC operation and no custom drivers required.

Build Integration

Two HDMI inputs allow a source and a display to connect simultaneously while the USB-C output carries video to the host computer. HDMI passthrough delivers near-zero latency preview and lag-free pass-through up to 4K60 with VRR and HDR10 support. The 3.5 mm jack captures in-game chat or live commentary without an extra mixer. Power comes entirely from the USB-C link so no external adapter is needed.

Sustained Operation

Hardware H.264 encoding keeps CPU load low during long recording or streaming sessions at 4K60, 1440p120 or 1080p240. HDR10 capture with tone mapping is available on Windows. The aluminium enclosure measures 112 x 72 x 18 mm and weighs 90 g, dissipating heat passively without fans. The device is not suited for users who require internal PCIe installation, multi-channel audio capture beyond stereo, or capture resolutions above 4K.
