USB-C Bluetooth 5.3 audio transmitter

The Creative BT-W3X is a USB Type-C sound card that adds Bluetooth 5.3 wireless audio to compatible PCs, Macs, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles. It supports aptX HD, aptX and SBC codecs with automatic real-time selection indicated by an LED and the companion Creative app. USB and wireless audio resolution both reach up to 24-bit / 48 kHz over an operating range of up to 50 m / 165 ft. The device can remember up to four paired sources for quick switching.

Buyers needing wireless headphone audio

This transmitter suits users who want to connect Bluetooth headphones or speakers to a USB-C host without built-in Bluetooth or with an older version. It works with the listed platforms and codecs for high-quality wireless listening. Buyers who require a USB-A connection or wired analog audio input and output should look at a different device.

aptX HD codec support over Bluetooth 5.3

The single specification that decides suitability is support for the aptX HD codec over Bluetooth 5.3, delivering 24-bit / 48 kHz wireless audio. If the buyer's headphones do not support aptX HD, the transmitter will fall back to aptX or SBC at the same maximum resolution. Confirm headphone codec compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the BT-W3X and is a USB-C cable included?

The package contains the BT-W3X USB-C transmitter only; no USB-C cable is listed in the specifications.

Which codec should I rely on for 24-bit 48 kHz wireless audio with the BT-W3X?

aptX HD is the highest-quality codec supported and will deliver 24-bit 48 kHz wireless resolution when paired with compatible headphones.

How does the 50-metre operating range perform inside a typical room?

The 50-metre figure is a line-of-sight maximum; walls and interference will reduce the practical range, but Bluetooth 5.3 helps maintain a stable connection at shorter distances.
