3 Megapixel CMOS sensor and 2.6x optical zoom

The D-Link DCS-3716 is a network camera built around a 3 megapixel CMOS sensor and a 3.1mm to 8mm varifocal lens. It delivers video up to 1920 x 1080 resolution with H.264 compression and supports two-way audio. Power over Ethernet simplifies installation by carrying data and power over a single cable.

Indoor or outdoor monitoring with variable focal

This camera suits installers who need adjustable framing through optical zoom and wide dynamic range for mixed lighting. It is not suited for buyers who want motorised pan or tilt movement, or for setups requiring wireless connectivity.

ONVIF-compliant H.264 stream at 1920 x 1080

The camera produces an ONVIF-compliant H.264 stream at a maximum of 1920 x 1080 pixels. That resolution and codec combination determines whether the unit integrates cleanly with your recorder or video management software.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1920 x 1080 setting or the 2048 x 1536 option for my DCS-3716?

The camera sensor can capture up to 2048 x 1536 pixels, but the listed maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080. Choose 1920 x 1080 for full HD recording that matches the official specification.

What does the 2.6x optical zoom actually give me on the DCS-3716?

The 3.1 mm to 8 mm lens provides 2.6x optical zoom, letting you narrow the field of view from wide-angle to a closer perspective without digital cropping or quality loss.

How does the PoE port and H.264 compression work together on the DCS-3716?

The single cable port carries both power and data via PoE, while H.264 compression reduces the video bitrate so the 1920 x 1080 stream fits comfortably on a standard network link.
